Waterpark RFC was founded in 1925 for past pupils of Waterpark College, originally named Waterpark Old Boys RFC, located in Ballinaneesha. In the 1960's we moved to a 12 acre site in Ballinakill situated less than 1.5 miles from the center of Waterford. Today we have 3 main rugby pitches, 1 floodlit all-weather football pitch, 2 floodlit all weather 5 a side pitches, 8 dressing rooms, a gym and clubhouse with a bar and dining area.
Waterpark RFC became a Munster Senior Club after winning the Munster Junior Cup in 1974 and we retained our Munster Senior status until 2009. As a club we reached the summit of Munster Senior club rugby in 1983, at that time we were the only Munster Senior club situated outside of the Munster rugby strongholds of Cork and Limerick and we reached the Munster Senior Cup Final, narrowly losing a superbly contested final to Young Munster in a packed Thomond Park.
Today we are a Munster Junior 2 Club, with a membership of approx 600, fielding Mens, Ladies, Boys and Girls teams within our Minis, Youths and Adult sections. We are proud of our success in the development of our players, recognized in the award of "Munster Youths Club of the Year" 3 times in the last 10 years. As a regional club we are also proud to have produced so many great players over the years, many achieving Inter-provincial caps at the various levels and a few who have represented Ireland at various levels, including Jack O'Donoghue who is a current Munster Senior player and past captain of Ireland Under 20's.
Our club ethos is to provide a safe and enjoyable environment in which our players can develop their full rugby potential. We are well aware of the influence and contribution our coaches have in the development of our players wider life skills and their responsibilities in this regard. On the field we will endeavor as a club to regain our Senior status and our players to once more compete against the best at Munster and Irish Senior Rugby.
All of us in Waterpark RFC look forward to welcoming all visiting clubs from Ireland and overseas and to continue to grow our friends in Rugby.
